Light Heals Certification
Red Light Therapy' (RLT) also known as Photobiomodulation (PBM) in the scientific community is a newly developing field in injury and illness management. However, the concept that light can heal is not new. Despite its recent popularity, it has close to a 100 year history of scientific research and development.
Online and self-paced. Enrol, work through the content in your own time, sit the quiz, complete the evaluation and print your certificate.
Seven hours of content in total, with PDF slides you keep.
Taught by Mike Stella, ATC and Alyson Evans, DC, both practitioners working with red light therapy in clinical settings.
Access details are emailed to you as soon as you enrol. Because the course is delivered digitally, enrolments are non-refundable once the content has been opened. Email hi@fringeheals.com.au if you have any trouble getting in.
Light Heals CertificationFoundational photobiomodulation certification - perfect for practitioners adding red light in clinic.
Red light therapy is a developing field in injury and illness management, with close to a century of science behind it.
This certification takes you from the physics of light through to clinical decision-making: how red and near-infrared light interact with tissue, what happens at the mitochondria, how to reason about dose, where the contraindications sit, and how to apply all of it to pain, performance, recovery, sleep and mental health. Seven hours, online and self-paced, with a quiz and a printable certificate at the end.

Learning Objectives
What You'll Be Able To Do By The End
Six objectives, each assessed in the quiz at the end of the course.
Read the research-
Define The Physiological Effects Of RLT
What red and near-infrared light do at the molecular and cellular level, starting at the mitochondria.
-
Explain Tissue And Organ System Effects
How cellular changes translate into effects across tissues and whole organ systems.
-
Understand Science-Backed Dosing
Power, time and frequency: how the three interact, and why more is not better.
-
Apply Safety Guidelines And Contraindications
Heat, eyes, skin tone, age, pregnancy, photosensitivity and medication interactions.
-
Practise Treatment Techniques
Working through pain, inflammation, performance, recovery, sleep and mental health.
-
Evaluate Clinical Cases
Read a case, choose an approach and justify the reasoning behind it.
Course Structure
Seven Hours, Four Stages
The course builds from the physics of light through to clinical case work. Take it in one sitting or spread it across weeks. It is yours to pace.
Hour one
Light Basics AndRLT Fundamentals
Introduction, the history of light therapy, how light behaves, how it interacts with the human body, and the fundamentals of red light therapy.
Hour two
MechanismsAnd Effects
Mitochondrial function, collagen stimulation, reactive oxygen species, cytokine management, and the basics of treatment.
Hour three
Precautions, SafetyAnd Contraindications
Heat, eyes, skin tone, age, pregnancy, photosensitivity and medications, plus a review of the equipment.
Hours four to seven
Clinical ApplicationAnd Case Studies
Pain and inflammation, sports performance and recovery, sleep management, mental health including anxiety, depression and SAD, then references, Q&A and case studies.
